|
|
| I have read that taking Coenzyme A would be a more direct way of dealing with acne. Then I learned about Pantethine. "It is a highly absorbable and biologically active form of pantothenic acid (Vitamin B-5). Pantethine forms the reactive component of Coenzyme A (CoA) and the acyl-carrier protein (ACP)." It is mentioned in Dr. Lit-Hung Leung's study: "The lipids in the sebaceous glands are completely metabolized by sufficient Coenzyme-A, and there will be no unwanted lipid in the glands and little sebum will be excreted to cause acne vulgaris." So does this make sense that it would be a more direct way to get the necessary Coenzyme A? Or doesn't it work that way? Any thoughts? Is anyone using Pantethine in place of B-5? And how much? |

| And Pantethine may work also. Economics and dosage may be very different with regards to this. If you only had to take 2 pills per day instead of 20, would you do it? If it was cheaper to use one over the other, would you do it? That's why I asked the question. |

If Pantethine contains co-enzyme A, is cheaper and I had to take fewer pills to get the same effect: sure, I would take it... _________________ Clear at last, Clear at last, thank God Almighthy Im Clear at last!! |

if correct, Pantethine is toxic when using too much. _________________ B5 FAQ, price and ingredients comparison: http://www.vitaminb5acne.com |

Pantethine may create co-enzyme A but to what degree hasn't really been the topic of study. b5 on the other hand has been studied. Also pantethine is much more expensive than b5, and the fact that b5 co-enzymeA synthesis is a timely process is an asset spreading the effects over time.

Indeed.
I emailed Dr. Lit-Hung Leung about Pantethine. Here's his reply:
"Pantethine, and for that matter, Coenzyme A, are but the active forms that pantothenic acid takes once it gets into the body system. They are probably a little more efficient than calcium pantothenate, the commonly available commercial form of pantothenic acid, but they are much more expensive. If you look up pantethine, you'll find that it is the disulfide dimer of pantetheine, the derivative of which is an intermediate in the conversion of pantothenic acid to coenzyme A. As such, weight for weight, no matter if it is pantothenic acid, or pantethine that you are taking, you end up with approximately the same number of Coenzyme A molecules that they generate. Though with calcium pantothenate, you have the added calcium mo;ecule there, making the molecular weight slightly higher, which means that you have to take a slightly bigger dose of calcium pantothenate than pantethine in order to generate the same number of Coenzyme A in the body."
Now I know. |

I have been using acne.org and posted a similar thread, to the one below
Id just like to put forward a theory, by taking Coenzyme A direct.
Have been using B5 for the last month and its definately works, but taking so many pills is obviously not good, health/ convenience/ money wise. So I decided to buy panthenine instead. It may be slightly more expensive than B5 (per tablet) but due to the fact you only take 1 or 2 a day it works out much, much cheaper.
Hoping for better results due to it being the substance b5 converts to and the fact it stays in your system for much longer.
But taking this further, does anyone else agree that if you took Coenzyme A tablets instead of this, 1 or 2 a day this would work even better. Due to the fact that b5 and panthenine are the precursors to this substance.
Coenzyme A is basically the substance that is produced in your body from taking B5/ panthenine, so surely taking it direct would mean not having to produce it from other things and losing benefits.
Any responses gladly received
To all you out there that thinks pantethine is way more expensive, its just not true, 20 B5 500mg tablets a day for me is equivalent to 2 to 3 450mg pantethine tablets a day and this works out much cheaper overall.
Have a look at the following website has some great info on all the above
